How to ride pillion on a superbike:
Ensure you are wearing windproof close fitting and preferably leather clothing
Allow the rider to help you on with your helmet or ‘lid’. Keep the visor up at this stage to facilitate conversation
Wait for by bystanders to finish engaging the rider in highly detailed discussion of the bike ( may take some time) Stand by graciously while he mounts the bike, revs the engine and draws admiring glances
Ensure he is ‘flatfoot’ with boot feet on the ground and the bike is stable
Place your left foot on the pillion footpeg , your hands on the pillion seat and lightly vault onto the bike, swinging you right leg over and onto the other peg.
Lean forward, and hug your arms around his chest, placing your knees either side of his hips/lower back. If you feel like a national hunt jockey, you’ve got it right
After agreement of route it’s visor down, give the driver a reassuring squeeze, and you’re off.
Hold on at all times in case of sudden acceleration, lean with the driver into the corners, hold on tight and please, however much you might like too, do not scream or throw up.
When the bike stops slip off quietly, take a few deep breaths, and give yourself a round of applause.
Resist the urge to buy bike for yourself or secure further rides using sexual favours (unless this was your plan before you rode pillion on a superbike)
Remember he loves the bike possibly even more than you and will not crash if he can help it.
